I Gave In

I let my daughter get a hamster.

The house mice must be beside themselves.

Well he (she) is a beautiful little hamster.
I like the stripe.
I am sure that the mice will not mind.

She's a dwarf hamster, and she is quite cute, I must say.

Re: house mice-- perhaps not, since I'm catching them so quickly... ;-)

Awww she is adorable!! I love the stripe too. Hamsters have the most cute little faces.

We have to gerbils, Mimi and Gerb. They are cute too!

Cute! What a nice pet- small - containable - as I type, I'm sitting next to my 80 lb golden retriever- who has gas. I'm dying - infact I may have to evacuate the studio....

You are a very good mother -and your daughter has amazing taste in nail polish.......

Thanks, Alicia! I used to have gerbils when I was a kid. It's just that with all the mice we have, there's something about the tail that gets to me... this one is tail-less. ;-)

Oh Kelly-- I know all about that!!! Our Dalmatian is in the other room... emitting the silent-but-deadly-kind...

Thanks, Carli! :-)

And thanks, Elizabeth. That's nice to hear every now and again. Yes, she's quite creative...

I'm SO glad you gave in. I had hamsters as a child and just adored them. I think they are so sweet and fun. (And if you get two - they have BABIES!)

And, of course, they run around that little wheel all night long (and try to escape). I love them.

Julie-- We saw that one! Funny! :-)

Barbara-- Oh yeah, the wheel that's supposed to be "whisper-quiet" at 3am. Hahaha, right!! But really, we still love her. (So do the cats, watching her go round and round...)

I got that same kind (Russian dwarf?) for my daughter a few years ago. We got two 'girls' - but quickly discovered that they were *not* sexed correctly, and we had babies every few months until we separated the original pair (the male spiraled in a deep depression...). They were awfully cute.

Tara-- She's some kind of a dwarf, not sure which. The guy at the pet store said they did better on their own-- that they sometimes got aggressive with other hamsters in the cage, which is why we only got one. But maybe that's not true! She's very sweet, in any case. (And I'm not sure I could deal with a litter!)
