Wednesday "Whew!"

My little nocturnal visitor tested negative for rabies. Yay! No shots, and one more thing to cross off the "to-worry-about" list.

I'm sure he was just as scared of me as I was of him, poor little guy.

A bat's wing construction is fascinating. I don't know if I've quite gotten the hang of it here. (He wasn't this big in real life either... but he sure seemed that way in the dark!)

Oh thats wonderful jen!!

I know it is not fair for the little guy.. But life is like this sometimes. Nothing we can do i guess. Hopefully one day, they'll find a way to test rabies without having to kill the poor little thing.

I'm glad you got such a great illustration out of it! :o)

Thanks, Christine! Yes, I'll definitely take it to finish-- was actually thinking it might make a good B/W line piece. Or maybe I'll play with it both ways.

And thanks, Alicia! Yes, art follows life, right? ;-)

Fabulous bat sketch! Too bad you had to go through all of that and reeeally too bad for the wee bat. On the bright side, he has been immortalized by your drawing!!

i definitely think you do both a b/w and color on this one...poor little bat deserves it! :) i think both ways will serve this one differently. heck of a way to get a portfolio piece...nothing like having inspiration smack you right in the face.

Thanks, Diana and Sketched Out! I guess this is my memorial to him, right? :-)

Christine-- You crack me up! I've come up with a million and one bat puns... didn't even think of the inspiration one. Ha!!!

Great drawing! And I'm so glad you're okay. I can't get the mice with wings comment out of my head now. I'll never look at bats the same way anymore.

Have a great weekend!

Thanks, Vivian! It's funny-- their bodies really are the same size as mice (at least the brown bats here in CT.) But when they spread their wings they seem HUGE!
