Wednesday Noir et Blanc: Moon Cats

I did the sketch for this piece way back in October and spent a long time thinking about how to treat the color. I even started and abandoned it, because something about the color just didn't feel right. So I went back and did it in black and white. Of course then I fretted over the balance between cross-hatch and wash. I think I'm okay with it now.

Yea cats! You seem to generally show dogs. Don't your kitties get jealous?

That's funny-- I recently had a portfolio review and the person said I have a lot of cats-- maybe I should show some dogs!!

And no, not jealous, they know they're always in charge... ;-)

i think you made a good decision...somehow i don't think it would give the same feel in color. you balanced the wash and crosshatching perfect to me! i like your new banner!

Thanks, Christine! I kind of thought I was getting crazy with the cross-hatch... but there's nothing like stepping away from the artwork for a while to get a little perspective!

Such wonderful cats.
I think they must have Moroccan cousins and breed -- a lot
