Friday Fun: Roz Chast Always Makes Me Laugh

Her characters are anxious and neurotic and insecure... something I can relate to!

Only kidding.

Most of the time.

I love it when they show her filing cabinet full of rejected cartoons. Again, it's that idea of quantity-- work at your craft persistently, experiment, learn from your mistakes-- and the quality will come.

Oh my gosh!! I LOVED this interview and seeing all of her insecurities that are just like mine! I think all us artists have a tinge of these crazy insecure feelings. Ha! Well, maybe it's not just artists... ;o)

Hi Tom-- I know... you get on a roll and then interruptions happen... it can be tricky!

Haha, Phyllis! Glad to know I'm not alone!! I think you're right though... between working alone, the work being so subjective, and the outcome not really measurable... hard to avoid those tinges at times... :-)

Great video -- she's one of my favorites! We have "When moms dance" on our refrigerator. And yes, I definitely relate to all that insecurity and neurosis!

That must be her appeal, Jody. I've cut out more cartoons of hers than anybody else, I think! ;-)
