Monday Map: Garden Madness

'Tis the season for prepping the garden beds. The husband has cleared and tilled and put up most of what will be a very-big-deer-fence for our "Victory Garden." I finally started my seed flats. It's been a late spring around here, and we want to be ready to plant once the weather turns around for good. Perhaps come August I'll hold a blog vegetable give-away, with any luck!

Cool! I can see it now, the deer fence will have to be so tall that now you dont get any sun in your garden. Those deer can get over and around anything it seems.

Haha, Frank right?! And they're not even scared of humans anymore around here. We're ready for them though... I think...

polypropylene mesh seems to work best for a deer fence! 7 feet high is perfect too keep those pesky deer out of your garden:) the thin profile of the polypropylene mesh allows the fence to blend right into your landscape so that both the sun and your view is not inhibited! I found a great product at www.bennersgardens.com

Thanks for the tip, Anon-- We're doing a combo of wire mesh and the poly. May not look beautiful but I think it'll do the trick!

Thank you, Cheryl! :-)

This is a very cool map. I love the way the garden is laid out, with the small plots and the bench (which looks like a great place to sit and read, or draw).

I need to start my garden soon too. Unfortunately just little flower boxes since I live in an apartment, but it's still fun to see what grows :)

Happy Gardening!

Thanks, Sruble! I like gardens that divide up the space as different rooms. Lots of variation that way.

Hey, you can do a lot with garden boxes. Enjoy! :-)

My husband is starting tomatoes, cilantro and peppers in our greenhouse window for the outside garden... he says he's growing salsa... I say he's growing magic. I mean, green things are coming out of dirt! That's so cool! (I never was a gardener, because I grew up in the desert, but now I might have to take it up...)
