Monday Map: Nashville to Asheville

I forgot to mention last Monday that these travel guide maps are from this big project back in May. The client recently sent me printed samples. They did a great job with the color reproduction. Nice when that happens!

Oh thats great Jen! It is wonderful that the color stays true as to what you created. I'm happy for you :o)

I love your new banner.
It is delightfully upbeat - something we seem to need lately.
Also the map is terrific.

Thanks, Alicia-- It was a good thing. Not always the case, unfortunately!

And thanks, Elizabeth. Yep-- trying hard to stay upbeat here...

I'm with you on the color issue. I design a monthly magazine, and getting the color consistent each month can be a challenge if your printer isn't always on their A game.

Funny thing, though, about being in a creative field, is that when you work on a project long enough, your glad when it is done, and don't want to look at it anymore... until the printed version comes out. Then if it something you are proud of and executed particularly well, you can't stop admiring it! :P

Tom-- Oh yes, I do that all the time. I'll hate a piece when I finish it and then look at it a few weeks later and think-- oh, that's not so bad! ;-)

Re: the color-- I have a few clients who have asked me to scan the art and send it digitally (which I'm happy to do if it's small enough.) I used to hesitate, but lately I've noticed that I like the way my scans print better! Who knew?! (In this particular job the client did the scanning, so it was a pleasant surprise.)
