I did the sketch for this piece way back in October and spent a long time thinking about how to treat the color. I even started and abandoned it, because something about the color just didn't feel right. So I went back and did it in black and white. Of course then I fretted over the balance between cross-hatch and wash. I think I'm okay with it now.
Yea cats! You seem to generally show dogs. Don't your kitties get jealous?
ReplyDeleteThat's funny-- I recently had a portfolio review and the person said I have a lot of cats-- maybe I should show some dogs!!
ReplyDeleteAnd no, not jealous, they know they're always in charge... ;-)
i think you made a good decision...somehow i don't think it would give the same feel in color. you balanced the wash and crosshatching perfect to me! i like your new banner!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Christine! I kind of thought I was getting crazy with the cross-hatch... but there's nothing like stepping away from the artwork for a while to get a little perspective!
ReplyDeletei love your moon cats, the balance between black and white is just right! no dogs, just cats!
ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful cats.
ReplyDeleteI think they must have Moroccan cousins and breed -- a lot
This is fantastic! Now, I wanna read the story that goes with this...
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jamie!
ReplyDeleteElizabeth-- I'm thinking perhaps I should take a research trip?? ;-)
Thanks, Phyllis! Now I'll have to write it... :-D
